Sporadicate Inc — Regenerating the Planet with Fungal Innovation
Sporadicate is an environmental biotechnology company dedicated to driving near‑zero plastic waste and ecosystem restoration through a holistic, multi‑pronged solution. Operational in Italy and the US, we merge advanced technology and biological systems to convert pollution into planetary renewal.
What We Do
- We implement a three‑pronged plastic degradation platform combining:
- Pyrolysis to convert non-recyclable plastics (like PP, PE, PS, ABS) into diesel-grade fuel and carbon‑rich byproducts,
- Mycelium Bunkers—modular, sealed Mycelium Processing Units (MPUs) that cultivate specially curated fungal strains to biodegrade plastics,
- PET Processing Systems to mechanically or chemically recover monomers from PET bottles and textiles.
- Together, these systems form a sustainable, circular facility able to handle virtually all types of plastic waste in a safe and scalable closed-loop ecosystem.
- We also restore degraded land by deploying ectomycorrhizal-infused tree systems—bioengineered native trees inoculated with fungi that absorb heavy metals, petroleum residues, and microplastics while stabilizing local soils.
Territory & Expansion
In the U.S., Sporadicate is scaling regionally (e.g. Idaho, Montana) and engaging in global partnerships—especially across Europe—via innovation networks, environmental agencies, and national climate initiatives.
Key Projects & Facilities
- Pocatello, Idaho (starting Jan 2026): A flagship municipal facility that integrates pyrolysis, PET recovery, and mycelium bunkers to process city-collected plastic waste, producing low-cost diesel and regenerating local supply chains.
- Butte, Montana Remediation Sites: Pilot installations of fungi‑infused tree planting on heavy-metal‑contaminated land, with anticipated full-scale remediation contracts in 2026.
Innovation & Future Research
- We are actively researching new fungal applications, including plastic-derived carbon capture, oil spill biodegradation, and hybrid myco-materials with commercial potential beyond waste remediation.
- Our R&D pipeline focuses on expanding strain libraries, optimizing MPU design, and refining ecological monitoring tools for real-time performance tracking.
Why It Matters
- Traditional plastic recycling processes only recover ~9% of plastic globally—most still ends up in landfills or oceans.
- Sporadicate’s system is engineered to handle the remaining 91% of plastic pollution—through fuel conversion, biodegradation, and ecosystem restoration.
- Every facility becomes a localized circular economy hub: waste-in becomes fuel, soil-bound polymers become biomass, and landscapes return to health.
What We’re Looking For
- Strategic co-development and pilot deployment partners in Europe.
- Access to environmental regulatory guidance for pyrolysis and field-based bioremediation.
- Technical collaborators for strain engineering, materials analysis, and ecosystem monitoring.
- Impact-aligned investment and industrial partnerships to scale our integrated plastic‑to‑fuel‑and‑forest model.
Sporadicate transforms waste into regeneration—through a closed-loop solution uniting pyrolysis, PET recovery, mycelium biodegradation, and living fungal forests. We’re turning the plastic crisis into a catalyst for climate resilience, soil health, and sustainable energy.
