MITIS SA

MITIS is a Belgian start-up founded by Michel Delanaye aiming to contribute to the reduction of GHG by developing efficient decentralized energy converters based on high-speed turbomachinery technologies. MITIS team involves 18 people mostly engineers and PhDs working on R&D and products industrialization. MITIS mostly relies on a European supply chain and assembles and tests products in-house. Since inception, MITIS has raised 3.7 million Euro in equity through privates, family offices and public regional VC Wallonie Entreprendre and Noshaq. 

After successful completion of several R&D projects, MITIS has patented its flameless combustion technology, recuperator system and turbogenerator architecture (12 patents delivered and submitted). Since 2019, MITIS has been developing a 10kWe oil-free flameless combustion microturbine for CHP, an ideal for applications where large amount of heat and/or domestic hot water are required such as nursing homes, swimming pools, hotels, spas, multi-residential buildings, etc. It is also a useful solution for agricultural, waste-water treatment sectors and even landfill applications where the microturbine can directly use raw biogas. The flameless combustion also enables the machine to exploit very low calorific gas and can be used for low LHV biogas or off-gas.

The micro-10 is currently being certified and will be released to the market in 2025. The micro-10 is built upon the patented flameless combustion technology developed by MITIS which provides the capacity to burn any fuel being fossil, neutral or free carbon with very low NOx emissions. The micro-10 patented compact rotor is supported by air bearings developed in-house and enabling to rotate the microturbine rotor with high speed (100 000 RPM) without any oil for lubrication ensuring long interval for maintenance and hence low TCO. 

MITIS is also developing fuel cell stationary power generation systems. First product  is a UPS of 100kW based on a LT-PEM pressurized by a turbocharger derived from the micro-10 rotor architecture. First customer for this product is ESA, space launch site in Kourou, Guyana.

MITIS is also involved in developing specialized (micro)-cryogenic turbomachinery for LNG BOG cooling in marine applications.
